Winter Break- Where can I possibly begin, I arrived to Santiago, Chile in July and have made it to the halfway mark. My first semester in Chile was filled with new adventures learning and adapting to the Chilean culture, but my biggest adventure has embarked this winter break. Considering I am in the southern hemisphere, this break is actually summer break for me. I finished my finals November 27th and took off to Buenos Aire, Argentina. After a the new and challenging semester in Chile, I was ready to explore the country’s around me. Argentina was a great start, I was welcomed with its amazing European architecture and thrilling culture. My next stop was Brazil. I was captivated by the warm hearted people of Brazil and the amazing nature and breath taking beaches. Brazil was always a country I wanted to visit, and to finally have this opportunity was amazing!! My next trip was back in Chile, me and some friends planned a trip to the Desert of San Pedro de Atacama, located in the North of Chile. We thought it would be interesting to spend our Christmas Holidays in the driest desert of the world, since back home it is always so cold. On Christmas Day we woke up early to take a bus from Chile that would cross us over to Uyuni, Bolivia where the largest salt flats of the world are located. Although this trip was filled with great friends and awesome sight seeing, it was hard for me to be away from my family during the Holidays. But considering what great support system they always are, I soon moved on to finish the rest of my travels. My final trip was to Santa Marta, Colombia. I fell completely in love with Colombia from the moment we arrived. The culture, the people, the food, everything was amazing. Above all the Caribbean Sea was Beautiful!!! This experience as a whole has been more then I could ever imagine, I am beyond grateful for this opportunity to travel and learn about different cultures in South America. This Winter break has provided me with great insight about the world around me. I cant believe that I was able to visit all these country’s and to now continue my second semester in Chile. This has been a great and thrilling adventure so far and I am very excited for what is yet to come.
